Another year is in the books and it’s about time we take a quick look back at what went down during 2010. For Pimpstar, it’s no doubt 2010 was a year to remember!

How it all started

One night during the winter of 09/10 Pimpstar founders Tobes and Jenzino was sitting at the bar in downtown Gothenburg in Sweden talking about the upcoming season and how to manage another couple of months of snow and cold wthout ridin’. The discussion progressed into complaining about how there’s not really any brands out there connecting with what we do, how we live and what we represent. Conclusion was, -”There must be tons of people out there who feel the same way. Why not create a brand that does what we do and connects all these people”. A lot of scribbles, think tanks and ideas later Pimpstar was born. The first version of the website launched in early April of 2010.

If no one sees ya, you don’t exist

As marketing plans and ideas were flying high and low, one thing was certain; We needed to gear up. First designs on clothing was taking shape, bikes got graphic kits and photo shoots were planned. Pimpstar got a lot of recognition and support from riders across town and people showed luv for the idea. The first batch of tee’s and hoodies sold out in 5 days!

There’s a lot of people to thank for the growth of Pimpstar. A big up to everyone supporting, buying merch and reppin’ the brand.

Summer pimpin’

The first realization of brand recognition was when season was starting for real and calls were starting to drop in from people recognizing Pimpstar in the streets. The website was gaining popularity and the facebook group was starting to grow bigger and bigger. Summer was all about ridin’, getting material, designing and improving the website. Merch was hustled out in the market weekly but it was time to take it to the next level. After some collaboration, Pimpstar found it’s way into it’s first shop. Cross & Enduro Companiet, Sweden’s biggest shop for motocross started selling Pimpstar clothing. First business shipment was sent!

It was time to celebrate the launch of Pimpstar. With a pre-ridin’ session Pimpstar threw a big party at Sticky Fingers in Gothenburg, Sweden. Thanks to everyone showing up, it was a blast!

Craziness

A couple of us riders were out one day and as usual, things rounded up with some stunt practice at a big ol’ parking lot. Now stunting is fun, but we needed jumps. With some creativity a new spot to jump the lot was found. The day after Jenzino got a call from Robertzon, a rider from Bad Ass Boys MC. ”Yo, we improved the jump from yesterday man. This is sick, you have got to come out here!!”. The clip was posted on Youtube and quickly gained recognition from sites from around the world.

Ride, ink and drink

Except for ridin’, planning and working with the development of the brand there was some time for partying and getting bat shit crazy as well. Summer was the shit, and the first Pimpstar ink was a fact. Mad props to Big W and Rasorblade!

As the brand grew stronger people from all over the world started joining in. Pimpstar got global orders shipping merch to the USA, Canada, France, Germany and the UK. We hooked up with riders from all over the globe, ridin’ and partying. To say the least, Pimpstar took a leap out in the world!

Fall

The fall of 2010 was all about planning and making the brand move on to the next level. New sketches, merch, vids, equipment and what not was jotted down. Not only did new prints come out, a new shop was added to the list, StayDirt.se which Pimpstar is really proud to be apart of! To round things up we even managed to squeeze in a week in Spain. For pure inspirational reasons of course.. We got a last season ridin’ vid done and ofcourse we brought the camera to Spain too for some off season bullshittin’!

1K Celebration

Pimpstar was getting more and more recognition and as a part of this a promise of a Pimpstar party when hitting a 1000 fans was made. The milestone was reached during October and it was time to throw a party for the Pimpstar family. As this was a celebration party it was decdided to keep the party family-ish and local. Thanks to our friends at Plain Kitchen it was possible to keep it real local since this is the regular Pimpstar hangout.
